ABOUT US
A word from owner & cook Lisa Bower: "I was born and raised in Falmouth, Nova Scotia, surrounded by farms and apple
tress. After graduation I got married to Fred Bower, a lobsterman, and
settled down for 16 years in the small community of Smithsville in Shelburne
County, Nova Scotia.
For four years I operated a small restaurant beside
my home and was privileged to learn from some of the best seafood cooks in the
province. Now I
am proud to bring this knowledge back home to the Annapolis Valley and share quality seafood the way nature intended it to be.
Please don't hesitate to let us know of any favourite recipe you might like
to share or personal suggestions which will make our little cafe an even nicer
place to eat.
On behalf of my staff, we hope you enjoy your visit with us and look forward
to serving you again soon!"
AT LISA'S
we make every effort to address the dietary concerns of our customers.
Please let us know immediately of your allergies and/or any diet concerns.
Our goal is to provide healthy choices through menu 'mix and match' and to
maintain our high home-cooked standards.

 Lisa's
is famous for it's
desserts
and we're justly proud of that! We bake here daily to ensure you the
freshest product, and vary the selection around your favourites every day.
We mix and match
traditional Nova Scotia style recipes for a taste of 'down home goodness'
with modern classics like fresh creamy cheesecakes with your choice of
toppings.
And pies? Have we got
pies - old time favourites and funky new varieties too! Kids love
our sundaes, ooey gooey... well you get the idea.
Drop in and check the
Dessert Board to see what decadent delights await you today; a break for
coffee & dessert at Lisa's is especially welcome when you've been
exploring the shops of downtown Windsor! |

Our
Banquet Room
We're proud to offer one of the few facilities in the area that's just
perfect for hosting gatherings of 50-60. The Banquet Room is located
above the main cafe and is reached via a solid oak stairway. The
upper stairwell is enclosed with a sliding french door to provide your party
with added privacy.
Banquet style dining tables can be arranged to suit your event, with the most
popular choice being the 'horse-shoe' shape. This is the perfect layout
for allowing visibility and conversation for any group. New this year is
the installation of a private bathroom so gone are the days of running up and
down stairs!
|
We cater
to:
- Luncheon Meetings
- Office Parties & Receptions
- Wedding & Anniversary Parties
Whether your group requires a space to meet and eat or just to meet, we
at Lisa's pride ourselves on flexibility. Lisa is happy to work with
you to plan your event and help relieve you of your worries so you can
relax and enjoy your gathering. |

TESTIMONIALS
On the web - '...one of our best dining experiences at a truly "homestyle"
restaurant in Windsor, Nova Scotia. Lisa's Cafe (30 Water Street, Windsor,
902-792-1986) is really ALL about the food. The service is warm and
friendly, mainly because Nova Scotians find it hard to be anything else.'
Blogspotter compares two self-proclaimed 'homestyle' restaturants, one in
New York's famous East Village, one in downtown Windsor, NS. Results
are clear; the small shire-town cafe wins hands down! For the complete
review visit:

 Our
neighbours like us...
"We have become loyal weekly
customers at Lisa's Café since opening our firm's door in January, 2007.
Not only are we regular lunch-time visitors, we've, so far, hosted two
corporate dinners in Lisa's banquet room and are just about to host a third.
The service, prices &
home-cooked meals can't be beat!"

Catering customers happy...
"Hello Lisa, I want to thank
you for the excellent catering recently done for our organization's annual
meeting. The space you have to offer is perfect for a large group such as
ours yet is quiet and comfortable. The food was delicious, well presented
and certainly plenty for everyone. Your service is personal and friendly
and we will certainly use your fine facility again. Thank you!"

Nice to meet
you...
"Stephen and I got back last night from our trip to Nova Scotia and wanted
to drop a line to say that it was a pleasure meeting you and dining in your
restaurant. We were really happy to have found your
place and it was great to get a chance to meet you and chat in person. Now
that we're back in New York we keep thinking of the next time we'll have a
chance to come back up to visit! We'll be sure to head back and see you."
Zahra & Stephen, New York (...fans of good food done well. Keep up the good
work!)
Nomination for
Best Dessert - 2006
"Always the toughest category in which to make a
selection, because there are so many worthy contenders, particular in
restaurants outside the city. Nominees included the butterscotch
cheesecake at Lisa's Cafe, where they offer as many as a dozen homemade
desserts..."

Windsor Attractions & Resources
Windsor is the "Shire Town" of Hants County, Nova Scotia and is rich in both
history & architecture. Nestled along the banks of the Avon River, Windsor
was once a major shipbuilding centre in Canada and today the original homes of
the shipping magnates add grace and charm to this picturesque town by the
waterside.
Yet the air of peace and quiet can be misleading; Windsor and area is
actually a modern, bustling centre of business in the County of West Hants.
Visitors will delight in our beautiful Bed & Breakfasts, great places to (ahem)
dine, historic sites, the Birthplace of Hockey museum and much more.
Residents & business owners enjoy a cosmopolitan community with many groups
promoting local commerce and tourism, while dealing with considerably less
stress than is common in larger cities. Art & culture is alive and well,
evidenced by a thriving theatre scene, as well as many studios for unique
artists and craftsmen.

'The Pumpkin King'
Right outside our door is a
small park, leading to parking spots and the Windsor Waterfront. In
the park local Pumpkin King Howard Dill is immortalized in a unique wooden
sculpture, side by side with a representation of one of his world famous
'Atlantic Giant' pumpkins. These prize winning pumpkins are record
breakers in size and the seeds are sold as a recognized strain.

Howard's own site and stop by the park to get a gander at these pieces
